If you are wondering if it is even possible to figure out how to get rid of back acne…you’ve come to right website. I have had dramatic success and I’ll share that with you in a minute.

(I encourage you to read my whole story, but  if you want to see right away how I finally got rid of my back acne, then click here)

First, I want to tell you a little more about my story. What I didn’t mention in earlier posts is that I am a trained chiropractor. I don’t know if you know much about chiropractors, but we are supposed to be pretty holistic in our approach to health. You know, go after the root of the problem, rather than the symptom.

Well, to know my back acne story, you ‘d wonder what I was thinking! For a guy that has a pretty healthy outlook on life and who takes pretty darn good care of himself, I am actually quite amazed that I was so short-sighted when it came to my own condition. I treated my back acne just like most folks treat their infections and diseases…I was looking for a silver bullet. One pill or potion or shot that would take care of my problem.

LOL! I fell into the very trap that I was helping people get out of in my clinical practice.

So, here’s the scoop.

I was talking to a patient about back pain and diseases and such when we got onto the topic of acne. I mentioned to her that I had struggled with acne for most of my post-puberty life and that now I had back acne and it was driving me nuts. I also told her about how I had tried “everything” and nothing worked for me long-term.

She immediately caught the hypocrisy in my thinking. She told me that there was a natural, holistic answer to my acne just like there was to her back pain. DUH! I had an epiphany…this light bulb went off in my head. The pupil was teaching the teacher. There must have been a healthy back acne treatment alternative out there that addressed the root of the problem and not just the symptom.

Of course! It made perfect sense. The back acne was just a symptom of a deeper imbalance in my body…and acne was one of the only ways my body could express that imbalance. There had to be natural ways to get rid of acne. I figured that if there was a holistic approach, and if I found it, my body would rebound quickly and I would get rid of acne fast (at least that was what I had been telling my patients about their pain conditions!). Weird…sometimes that answer is right under our noses.

Well, I was now determined and committed to finding an acne treatment that worked; one that was natural and holistic…not one that depended on chemicals and one-shot wonders. I went to work to find it. I studied on the internet and read up on acne and all it’s causes. I consulted the websites of naturopaths, homeopaths, medical doctors, and other chiropractors. I learned so much.

It didn’t take long before I found a guy named Mike Walden, a certified nutrition specialist and health consultant. He had exactly what I was looking for… at least on paper. His promise was that if his step-by-step natural acne treatment was followed, I would have a permanent cure within 2 months! He even suggested that I would see results in less than 7 days.

I went ahead and got his book (it didn’t cost much at all, considering what I had spent so far on drugs, cremes, vitamins, etc.). I was enthralled from the moment I read the first page. This guy knew the pain I went through. He knew what it was like to suffer with acne. He knew what it was like to go through what every one of us has been through with this annoying condition.

I began doing exactly what he suggested. He put to bed all the myths about acne treatment that I had bought into and I realized that the answer was truly not a silver bullet that only addressed one factor of the back acne beast. His book even went into how to get rid of acne scars (including back acne scars!), which is something I haven’t talked about in this blog yet, but which is a real bother since they never went away (you know what I am talking about).

His treatment protocol makes SO much sense. I can’t even begin to tell you how it resonated with me and seemed so intuitive. Why hadn’t I put it all together like he has in this system. I have no idea. So much of it makes sense and a lot of us have  heard about some of it. But putting it all together is where Mike really shines. He also brought some things to my attention which I had never thought or heard of before. You’ll love it.

Anyways, I used his acne treatment regimen right away and noticed changes within about 9 days, a little longer than the suggested 7 days in his book (but I had really bad acne). Needless to say I was still very happy.  I wouldn’t say the changes were noticeable to anyone else but me right off the bat…they were subtle, but they were there! I saw some swelling of the acne subside, I noticed some of the pain was less on my back when I put on my shirts. I also noticed that the really bad “boils” started shrinking. My wife didn’t even notice at first. But it didn’t take long before it became obvious to her and my kids.

Sure enough, within 2 months the “zits” were gone! Whiteheads, blackheads, boils…all of it. I still get one once in a while, but it usually happens when I have slacked on Mike’s acne treatment regimen. I just start up again and I am back to being zit-free. I am almost 36 years old…it has taken me over 20 years to finally find a solution (better late than never I guess). I couldn’t be happier. I also mighd that I am generally more healthy now too. Mike’s system addresses whole health of the body. Remember, no silver bullets; only a holistic approach. Don’t give up hope…the answer is right around the corner!

A little inside info on what acne really is before I go into back acne treatments.

Acne is also called acne vulgaris and is not just a problem for teens, but for people between 10 and 40 years old. It is no discriminator of people…both men and women are equally affected. As a matter of fact, it is not uncommon for women to develop acne in their mid to late-20′s, even if they’ve never had it before.

Acne can show up as:

1.) whiteheads,
2.) blackheads,
3.) pimples (affectionately knowns as zits),
4.) pustules, or
5.) cysts (really deep pimples, sometimes called boils).

They show up mostly on areas of the body where there are lots of “oily” glands, i.e. face, forehead, shoulders, back, chin, and chest.

There is NO ONE cause of acne. It is multifactorial. I think that is why a lot of so-called acne “cures” don’t work in the long term. They address one factor, while neglecting the rest of them.

Here are just a few of the contributing factors…

a. hormones,
b. adrenals,
c. stress,
d. bacteria,
e. inflammation,
f. heredity,
g. cosmetics,
h. drugs,
i. environment, and
j. diet

That is why any effective acne treatment, worth it’s weight in salt, needs to consider the whole body for it to work.

I saw a “zit doctor” (dermatologist) when I was a teenager because my mother felt so sorry for me.  I had no self-confidence, no girlfriends, was afraid to go to school everyday because of the teasing, cried when I was alone, and I would come home from school with blood spots all over my face, from where I had been picking the zits all day long.

The “zit doctor” helped a bit, but I got loaded up on antibiotics to get that help.

I tried cremes, pills, lotions, diet changes (no chocolate – ouch), and even contemplated having the pimples cut off (which was the doctor’s suggestion).  Nothing worked. The antibiotics worked for a short time, at least giving me some reprieve during 11th and 12th grades, but it came back for years afterwards (I was struggling with back acne well into my 30′s).

I have heard horror stories of how antibiotics will not only kill the bad bacteria, but all the good stuff too. The research shows that while antibiotics may help get rid of “symptoms”, it can do as much damage to other areas of the body at the same time! Great. Now, I read about these super bacteria which are resistant to antibiotics. There has to be another answer. There have to be acne treatments that work. Don’t worry, there is. I’ll get into that on my next post.

This is a little of what I have been through. The face acne was tough because of what people saw, including what I saw when I looked in the mirror. But, this back acne stuff is tough because of not only how it looks, but how it feels. Boils are no fun. If you are reading this because you have back acne, and you’ve experienced the cysts/boils, you know what I am talking about. It isn’t so much about how it looks, but how it feels…and it can feel very painful.

NEXT POST: How I stumbled on the back acne treatment that worked.

How To Get Rid of Back Acne?” – What a great question. You’re here because you are trying to get rid of it too, and haven’t had much success at it. Am I right?

Actually, this blog can be for anyone with acne anywhere on the body. I have learned that acne is acne. The answer for one is the answer for all. That is my experience anyway.

Acne has been a major hurdle in my life. I first had it really bad as a teenager, mostly on my face. But later, as an adult, I suffered from back acne. Of course, no one could see it (except my wife and kids and anyone who saw me in a swimming pool or beach!) but it was so horrid to look at. Sometimes it hurt like a bugger too, especially when I wore a heavy shirt that rubbed against the cysts and pimples. It absolutely drove me nuts!

Then I had children who grew up with acne too! The curse lived on and was passed on down to my children.

I actually had come to hate it. I tried everything, from seeing a “zit doctor”, washing my face every single morning and night with Ivory soap, cremes, pills, antibiotics, diet changes, lotions, etc., etc., etc. Heck, I even thought about having them cut off (which was one of the treatment suggestions in the 70′s presented to me as a 17 year old teenager…crazy isn’t it).

Nothing worked…permanently anyways. Until a couple of years ago. I won’t get into that now, but I found an effective acne treatment that beat this ugly thing and get some normalcy back into my life and the life of my children before they had to go through what I went through.

I know some of you reading this blog post haven’t had acne your whole life and aren’t used to living with it. Now you’ve got it and you feel the pain. No worries…don’t be discouraged. There absolutely is a way to get rid of pimples. I have found an acne treatment that works…whether you have acne on your back, chest, face, shoulders, wherever. No matter whether you are a man, woman, or child. But, more about that stuff in another blog post on another day.
